Christmas Round Tennis Scholars

Christmas Round-Up of the Tennis Scholars

The Tennis Scholars have had a busy Christmas and have been competing all over the country.

Charlotte Tatham (Year 8) was runner-up in the U18 event at the White Horse Centre in Oxfordshire before Christmas. Well done Charlotte!

Annabel Davis (Year 8) played very well to finish runner-up in the U14 event at the Westway Christmas Indoor Junior (Grade 3) tournament and also reached the Semi-Finals in the U16 competition in the same tournament. A fantastic achievement playing girls in much older age groups.

Georgie Walker (Lower 6th) has also had a fantastic Christmas holidays winning the Women’s Open Regional Grade 3 and coming runner-up in the U18’s in Heston. Georgie narrowly lost out in the Semi-Finals of the U18 Grade 2 Winter National Tour in Sunderland in a very tough match. Georgie has now qualified for the Masters at the National Tennis Centre in February. Well done Georgie we look forward to seeing how you get on in February! Georgie is currently playing in the main draw of a British Tour event in Loughborough whilst revising for her A-Level mock examinations! Good Luck Georgie!

Olivia Peet (Year 11) came runner-up at the U18 Grade 2 event which has now meant that she has also qualified for the Masters at the National Tennis Centre in February.

Well Done Ema! Australian Junior Open here we come!

Ema Lazic (Lower 6th) has climbed even further up the rankings to 62 in the world in the ITF Junior World ratings since Christmas which has meant that she has been accepted into the main draw of both the Australian Junior Open and the AGL Loy Yang Traralogon Junior International tournament also in Australia. This is a phenomenal achievement as Ema is also studying for her A-Levels. Something that very few, if any, are able to do whilst playing at this level. We are very proud of Ema and wish her all the very best of luck in Australia.
